Another Erin Fashion Pick: The Work Bag

As you may recall from my post, Keeping up with the Fashionista Stepdaughter, I have an added benefit (or is it a curse?) of having a really fashion forward stepdaughter right down the hall from me.

Her fashion sense comes in handy when I need help accessorizing my wardrobe or when I've grown tired of my look and could use a new set of eyes in my otherwise dark, drab closet.

The side effect of having the fashionista in the house is that it makes it tougher to let yourself get away with looking, how can I say it delicately...Boring

While I'm not trying to compete with my stepdaughter for the coveted title of best dressed lady of the house, I do like finding pieces that make me feel more refined and sophisticated (you know, more like a grown up Mom-like person as opposed to a kid pretending to be a parent).

Because of this urge I have to feel more like a grown up these days, I welcome (with open arms of course) the gift card that the lovely folks at Marshall's have sent me so that I can have some fun on their dime.

My latest purchase was this incredibly cool mock crock work bag. I had been sporting a back pack up until I received the gift card. I didn't really intend to buy a bag when I got to my local Marshall's, but this one just screamed at me. PICK ME UP ERIN!!!!! YOU'LL LOOK LIKE A GROWN UP NOW!!!!

I have to admit, at a $24.99, the bag has paid for itself already. Not only has it inspired me to pare down to just a wristlet that fits in the bag (as opposed to a big purse in addition to my bag), but it also looked stunning and awesome as I carried it to several coffee shops in San Francisco last week as I looked for a place to work. I heart my classy looking work bag.

I'd like to thank Marshalls and the lovely woman that got me the gift card for helping me find my way into grownupland. Given my stepdaughter's proclivity for all things name brand and fashionable, I have a feeling the folks at my local Marshalls are going to be seeing a lot of me this Christmas!
